•We will study the liberty charters that our founding fathers studied in order to declare independence and write the Constitution. (Like the Magna Carta)
•We will read from books like Common Sense & The Law,” and quotes and pamphlets from our founding fathers.
•We will talk about present day issues that can be answered using founding fathers quotes, essays, and the federalist papers.
•We will read the Declaration of Independence and talk about what was going on to make the founding fathers want to include that grievance.
•We will talk about the Articles of Confederation and why the States thought it was insufficient.
•We will study the Constitution and be able to say what all 7 articles contain
•we will memorize-ish the Bill of Rights, I have a fabulous trick to help them do this, they will LOVE it.
•We will play games where they are given an example situation and try to name which article of the Constitution or which Amendment makes that situation constitutional or not (kids get pretty good at this and take pride in their growing confidence).
•We will learn how to read a legislative bill.
